Woodland Park Zoo

Yesterday - in celebration of Mom's last test - Mom, Nick, and I decided to go to the Woodland Park Zoo. It was the first beautiful day in a long while, so the park was crawling with toddlers and parents. But, it was a ton of fun to visit the zoo and see all the animals and beautiful exhibits.

The penguins have a much better exhibit than they did when I was a kid. It is much fancier and a lot more fun to look at. Not to mention that penguins are one of the best animals anyway!

Next, we went to check out the rain forest section of the zoo. Besides the tropical snakes and frogs, the ocelots had a sweet little kitten that was hanging from the branches upside down and generally harassing its mother. There were also a number of fun tropical birds, such as toucans.

The aviary was a fun stop, since there were many very cool and unique looking birds!

On the way to the African area of the zoo, we stopped to check out the flock of flamingos.

The African exhibits were kind of funny, since we saw so many of the animals during the Tanzania trip. But, it was still nice to see Nick's favorite animal - the giraffe - and my wonderful hippo.

A couple weeks ago, I saw a sign for the zoo advertising dinosaurs! So of course, I was instantly intrigued and apparently for good reason. The dinosaur exhibit was fun, but pretty silly since the robots periodically clicked and jerked. However, it was cool to check out nonetheless.
