Since the concert was on Monday 9/24, we decided to fly out for the entire weekend and enjoy some time visiting Seattle. We had a late night flight on Friday 9/21, after finishing our classes and other prior engagements.
On Saturday 9/22 we decided to head into the city for a little outing. We wandered around the waterfront and Pike Place Market, enjoying the weather and typical tourist sites. We considered going on the Ferris wheel but were deterred by the long lines.
Next, we decided to stop by Gasworks park since the weather was gorgeous and we thought it would be a fun outing. The park is very fun and pretty, so we got a number of cool pictures while hanging out there:
There was a fairly unusual wedding happening at the park; some people in attendance were wearing steampunk clothes while the rest seemed pretty normal. It was a strange group for sure.
There also seemed to be some kind of event, with lots of kids sliding down the hill on ice cubes:
That night, we had a delicious homemade dinner: pasta with meatballs and German chocolate cake! We finished up the night by watching Kiki's Delivery Service before bed.
On Sunday 9/23 we had a wonderful breakfast at Esta's! She made delicious swedish pancakes and yummy fruit smoothies. After breakfast, we had a little time to do some work before heading to Queen Mary's Tea House for afternoon tea. It was a extremely fun and delicious, but it was a lot of food!
That night, when we were finally starting to get hungry, we had some wonderful home made chili and Lazy Daisy cake while watching How to Train your Dragon. Carling had never seen it before!
Finally, we got to Monday 9/24. Nick had gone back to school the last night, so Carling and I decided to use this day to do a little more work and some shopping. We drove down to Alderwood mall and had a very successful outing. We went to the Ram in the U Village for dinner, before heading to the concert around 7:30pm.
The concert was in the cute little theater, the Neptune, which is right next to the University of Washington.
The opening band, Speak, was a group of fairly young boys from Texas. They were pretty good and an adorable group. They certainly did their job well of chatting up Tegan & Sara and getting the audience excited!
Then, Tegan & Sara! It was absolutely amazing! They are a great band to watch live and everyone was incredibly excited to see them! It was definitely worth it to come home for the weekend just to have the opportunity to see them in such a close setting.
The 6am flight was less ideal, but overall it was totally worth it!
